Review: The Obsession (Filthy Rich Americans #2) by Nikki Sloane

Publication Date: August 13, 2019
Series: 2
Rating: 5 stars

Official Blurb:
The Hale family is obsessed with status, power, and control. No problem is too big their money can’t solve.
Royce Hale manipulated me into giving him everything. My virginity. My hand in marriage. My heart.
And as soon as he got what he wanted, he callously sold me off for a cool ten million.
In the boardroom and the twisted game his family plays, he says the only rule is to win at all costs.
Yesterday I learned a painful lesson not to trust the prince of Cape Hill. Today I’ll destroy his carefully laid plans and show him just how badly he’s already lost.
All the money in the world won’t be able to stop me.

At some point, I have got to stop trying to figure out what Nikki Sloane is going to do with her books. I've tried so many times to figure out what exactly is going on with this book, but yet, I fail every single time. The Obsession is so unpredictable, and honestly, I'm always expecting things to crash and burn. But this book was so freaking addictive, that even when the story didn't go how I wished, or a character really, really got under my skin, I kept going. That's how great of a writer Nikki is. She always pulls me in with her words, and I literally can't stop reading until I reach the end.

But even after I finished, The Obsession is still here, lingering in the back of my mind. I really had no idea how this book was going to go after The Initiation. I thought, how much more can go wrong? Well, let's just say, The Obsession left me on edge. I just can't get over this book! I haven't experienced a book hangover like this is a while, and I'm just blown away by it.

I will admit, I hated Royce. God, he was one of those characters that you wished you could reach inside the book to shake him. I'll also admit, I still loved him too. He's hard not to love, especially when he does certain things and it makes me forget about all the bad. Unfortunately, Royce was not the only character I despised at times. I really have no idea how this is going to play out. That ending pretty much screwed up any ideas I had about what book three was going to be about. I'm sure it'll be full of twists, just like this one.

I'm super ready to get the final book to this trilogy. I really can't wait to see what Royce's big plan is, or what in the world is going to happen with a certain person. I'm just ready! Nikki Sloane has outdone herself with The Obsession. She certainly has made me obsessed with this trilogy!
