Holy Plot Twists, Batman!
The Thief is so much more than just the typical BDB
star-crossed lovers romance. The dark
undertones and revelations of all things bad and forth coming really set this
book off to be the beginning of something major in the next book, which has
already revealed to be about Throe and his little seductive book of bad shit.
Let’s start off with Assail and Sola. My reference above to
them being star-crossed lovers is about as close as you can get to perfection
in regards of describing their relationship. Assail is an addict, and Sola is a
human on the run from her past with her grandmother in tow. Their romance is a
slow burn that turns into a raging inferno of lies and passion. The HEA to their story couldn’t have been any
better despite the little flames of drama popping up between them.
Next, V and Jane. Now this side story is what held my
attention the most as I read this behemoth of a book. The near the beginning
twist had me tossing my kindle in rage at V’s actions. You could almost hear
the pain between these two characters as they had to tread dangerous and
particularly damning waters to find themselves back where they needed to me. All relationships hit those low
points, and it was refreshing to see that Ward was willing to add a real-life
twist to her very fictional and very demanding BDB’s men.
Now the final piece, Throe and his book. A clear set-up for
what’s to come in the next book. It will be a dark and dangerous path that I am
so excited to read. Will Throe be redeemed or will be follow his book to place
he can never return from?
2019 needs to hurry up so we can find out!
