Review: The Mafia And His Angel: Part 1 (Tainted Hearts #1) by Lylah James

Cold. Ruthless. Killer. I am respected and feared by all.
I wasn’t put on this earth to love or be loved. I was put here to wipe out every last member of the damn Abandonato mafia, to pay them back for my mother’s death.
When I find a strange girl hiding, beaten, under my bed, I don’t let her live out of compassion. She’s a trinket, my plaything.
I thought Alessio was only one more man who wanted to use me, hurt me, and throw me away. I don’t know what it is to trust anymore. I can’t find my heart under the pain.
Alessio found it. He touched it, and brought it alive again.
The Mafia and His Angel was a definite page turner. Lylah James did a great job keeping me interested and wanting more throughout the book. I didn’t really know what to think about this one when I first started. So much was going on in the beginning and when the story finally started to unfold, it molded into something else. I will say Lylah James had the ‘angel’ part of the title down. Ayla is not your typical girl and in so many ways she’s innocent. She’s had a very sheltered life and I could tell. Not that it’s bad or anything, but I really wanted her to man up and take what I knew she wanted. But then again, there was so much that held her back, so in a way I get it. Alessio was just like any other mafia guy and I liked him a lot. Sometimes he could be a bit frustrating, but I felt by the end of the book, he became more than what was expected of him.
