Review: Buns by Alice Clayton

Publication Date: May 23, 2017

Series: Hudson Valley #3
Rating: 5 Stars

Official Blurb: Clara Morgan is living the dream, if you can call rebranding hotels that are desperate for a new life and running any kind of marathon a dream. Which she does. But the career she loves and the endurance races that keep her adrenaline pumping have kept her too busy to put down any roots. Growing up in foster care, she’s never been able to establish traditions of her own, which may be why she’s fascinated by the rituals that generations-old family resorts are known for. She’s especially interested in the Bryant Mountain House, and not just for their secret recipe for the yummy, gooey, can’t-get-enough-of Hot Cross Buns….

Archie Bryant, the man with the Buns, is fifth generation and one-day-owner of the charming yet run-down Bryant Mountain House in Bailey Falls, New York. He’s determined to save his family’s legacy from the wrecking ball the old-fashioned way—by gritting his teeth and doing what needs to be done. There’s no way Archie will be influenced by the new hotel branding expert his father brought in to turn one hundred and fifty years of tradition on its head just to attract a faster, younger, slicker crowd. But when some of Clara’s ideas start bringing in new, paying customers, Archie can’t deny that she may have just given him a shot at keeping his resort open.

It’s sticky, it’s messy, it’s sweet, it’s Buns.

Review: A perfect combination of sweet, sassy, funny, emotional, and down right juicy. I was addicted from the beginning and could not put it down. I adored both Clara and Archie, and I just couldn’t get enough.

Clara Morgan is living the dream. She has the perfect job that allows her to travel around the world without having to put down any roots and that works perfectly for her. When her next assignment comes up, she is more than happy to except because she gets to see her two best friends. What she was not expecting was Archie Bryant.

Archie Bryant… whew this man stole my heart! At first, he is a little cold and very standoffish, but as the story goes he starts to warm up and believe me he melted my heart completely. Clara and Archie don’t hit it off so great at first, but the more they are around each other the better things get. And the chemistry is off the charts from the get go… and believe me Archie had me swooning quite a bit.

Once Clara and Archie start working together, they realize they are a great team and it’s hard to resist the temptation, which leads to more fire and passion than either of them could have expected. Both are very stubborn, strong willed, and have pasts that hurt them both very deeply. Can Clara and Archie let go of the past and become a forever kind of team? I am really in love with this book. These two are so amazing together and again Archie stole my heart in more ways than one. I just wanted to cuddle him forever. I can’t wait to see what Ms. Clayton brings next because this book is so good.
