Rhiannon’s Law, Book 1

After leaving the flash and sass of Miami for the no-nonsense groove of New York, Rhiannon Murphy is eager for a clean slate and fresh start. A bartender by trade, a loud mouth by choice, and a necromancer by chance, she’s managed to keep her nasty habit of seeing dead people hidden from those around her—until now.

The dangerous and deliciously sexy vampire, Disco, knows her secret. When he strolls into her club to ask for help investigating the mysterious disappearances of his kind, she quickly gets the vibe that he’s not exactly the kind of guy you tell no.

Yet in a world where vampires peddle their blood as the latest and greatest drug of choice, it’s only a matter of time before the next big thing hits the market. Someone is killing vampires to steal their hearts and, unlike Rhiannon, this isn’t their first stroll around the undead block.

This book has been previously published.

Warning: Includes violence, strong language, and references to sexual abuse that may disturb some readers. Oblique references to ’80s films are hidden here and there, which could result in tickling your geek-like fancy.

Until seeing her parents’ ghosts at their own funeral, Rhiannon had no idea she even had a connection to the dead. While her necromancy is still in its infancy, she’s poised to become one of the strongest necromancers around town. Not only is she a necromancer, but she also moonlights as a bartender/bouncer extraordinaire in a strip club. That line of work alone brings in a bevy of strange acquaintances including a vampire she has named Disco. It’s through him she’s introduced to the darker side of the world and fellow necromancer Goose. Rhia quickly learns that her skills as they grow are only going to complicate her life even more. She’s got some very tough decisions to make as her neck is literally on the line.

The characters in this book are just so damn good!

Rhiannon is such a feisty, kick ass lead heroine for this book. She desperately wants to cling to the normalcy of her humanity and life. Yet, when the world falls into darkness around her, she knows that she’s got to decide for herself whether to align herself with someone who can protect her or play survivor in real life. Even as the world is crashing around her, Rhia’s romantic life goes from zero to infinity when it comes to the man in her life. I won’t spoil it for you, but I will say the scenes between them in this book make me wish my first time was like hers. I mean come on, no girls first time ends in those kind of fireworks!!

Disco is a master vampire who’s been around for a VERY long time. He knows what Rhiannon is and comes to her when he needs help contacting the ghosts of the twice dead. He realizes her true potential as a necromancer and sets her up with his colleague Goose. Goose isn’t as strong as Rhia is in her gift and he wants to be there to guide her along her journey of learning about her ability as well as track down the murdering bastards who are taking vampire hearts.

Where has this book been all my life? I’ll admit it wasn’t even on my radar until I saw the beautifully dark cover on Netgalley. What can I say about a book that has left me both exceedingly happy and confused all at the same time? This book is just… Fan-freaking-tastic! I don’t know how I haven’t heard about this book before as I am a fan of other books in this same genre. It has too long been flying under the radar in my opinion and I for one CANNOT wait for the re-release of the 2nd book!
