Review: Unbreak This Heart by Betty Shreffler

Publication Date: August 31st, 2018

Series: Standalone
Rating: 4 Stars

Official Blurb:Ever since that horrific night, I’d shut men completely out of my life. I’d gone from the spunky, fun, Alex DeMarco to a broken woman terrified of intimacy. Easing me back into dating, my best friend sets me up with kickboxing lessons from my charming and perfectly sculpted instructor—Carter Maxwell.

Carter’s goal is to break through my emotional barrier and mold my heart just like he molds my body, but trusting men is a battle I’m not ready for. What’s worse is my ex fiancé, Todd Livingston—the man who tore my heart in two—wants me back, and as much as I’d like to deny it, the feelings are still there.

Both men want what I can’t give—my body and my love—and neither are willing to give up the fight. But only one of them can unbreak this heart of mine.

Review: Ms. Shreffler is a newer author for me, but I have fallen in love with the last two books I’ve read from her, and this one wasn’t any different. It was an emotional roller coaster ride from the very beginning, until the last page. I was consumed with Carter and Alex, and I couldn’t get enough.

Alex has been through such a traumatic experience in her life. She had everything until one night changed it all. Not only did that one-night ruin her completely, but her ex-fiance decided he couldn’t stick around anymore. Alex is broken, but her best friend is determined to help her out of the shadows. Her best friend signs her up for a self-defense class, and for the first time in over a year, Alex finally feels something she thought she never would again… a chance at a future. Carter is perfect in every way, but is he actually willing to stick around when the going gets tough?

I adored Carter so much in this book. He is totally swoon worthy in every single way. There were times I felt bad for him too because Alex was so wishy-washy throughout several parts. I wanted to shake her and then scream wake up crazy!!! But the ending was so good. Of course, there were several twists I didn’t see coming, but the chemistry between Carter and Alex was magical.
