Phoenix /fēniks/: (in classical mythology) a unique bird inhabiting the Arabian Desert that burned itself on a funeral pyre before rising from the ashes with renewed youth to live through another cycle.
This isn’t mythology, it’s war, and Hendy is left in the hands of Hell’s cruelest gatekeepers.
His team is killed before his very eyes, and despite his efforts to save them, he’s captured and subjected to merciless torture—losing virtually every piece of his identity but his pulse.
After his rescue, he returns home from Afghanistan, saddled with facing the daunting task of healing his physical scars as well as the invisible ones—his emotional demons.
Dr. Presley Cole isn’t one to shy away from a challenge. Embarking on a new journey, she makes it her mission to prove to Hendy that his life isn’t over; that he’s worthy of love.
Because sometimes even a phoenix needs help to rise…
Out of the Ashes.

First let me just say this is a book that will stick with me for a very long time. It’s so emotional, heartbreaking, real, raw, and truly beautiful from start to finish. I seriously wanted to crawl through my kindle and cuddle Hendy so hard. I enjoyed book 1 in this series, but I LOVED this book so hard.
Hendy was captured while touring overseas and he was believed to be dead, but somehow he escaped and now he is back home. Hendy is alive, but he is not really living. He is stuck suffering with the pain that was caused on the inside as well as the outside. Enter Presley Cole… Presley is dealing with her own issues in her personal life, but it is her goal to treat Hendy the best she can. But what happens when feelings start to get in the way? Can Presley show Hendy just how amazing he is or is he doomed to suffer in silence forever?
I don’t want to give too much away because this is a book that needs to be experience without spoilers from start to finish. It deals with a lot of emotional and personal issues and some that had me in tears. I adored Hendy so much. I literally fell in love with him and I was rooting for him and Presley to get their HEA! Ms. Boldt did such an amazing job on this book. This is a top favorite of mine for 2017, and I can’t wait to see what she brings next.
