Title: The Boy Next Door
An Off-Limits Romance Standalone
Author: Ella James

The boy next door. That’s what he was. Dash Frasier—my hero from the day we met, when I was six and he was nine. His sister was my best friend, the three of us one happy crew. Then one sweaty summer night changed everything.

No one understood me like Dash. No one made me feel so loved. That’s why, when he skipped town, it wrecked me.

Now I’m older. Wiser. I’ve just snagged my dream job, writing at a film studio. The lead animator on my project?

You guessed it.

He’s not the boy next door. Not anymore.

I’m guarding my heart this time.

But Dash has secrets that could break us both.

*~*~* 3 Stars *~*~*

Whew this book is FULL of angst. My emotions were all over the place while reading this. Also at times I felt like my head was swimming from trying to keep up with everything that was happening.

Amelia and Dash have been friends since they were kids. As they grew older, feelings started to change and you could tell both of them cared for each other. But one night of passion changes everything between them, and now five years later fate has thrown them back together.

Dash and Amelia’s story jumps from past to present quite a bit and at times it was a little difficult not to get confused. Amelia was a likable character, but other times she was very weak and needed to put up a fight. Dash left her and he needed to grovel, but many times Amelia would just over look it or let him right back in. I had a love/hate relationship with Dash. One minute I would think he was the sweetest guy and the next he was back to being a prick. Dash was holding a huge secret and when it FINALLY came out I was a little shocked, irritated, and annoyed. Yes, I felt bad for him, but at the same time it was sort of his fault to begin with. Like I said my emotions were definitely up and down so many times. I wish there would have been a stronger connection between these two. Yes, Amelia was in love with Dash, but I don’t think he truly loved her the way she loved him. There were some sweet parts, but mostly it’s just packed full of drama, angst and A LOT of back and forth. It was a pretty good read, but I wish a few things would have been different.
