Title: Fatal Harmony
Series: The Vein Chronicles #1
Author: Anne Malcom
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Release Date: January 31, 2017
I may be the villain of the story, but at least I get a leading role.
Evil is a term thrown around history and literature as if it's something so easily definable. A concept to fight against.
Evil doesn’t exist.
Neither does ‘good.’
Vampires do, though.
I just happen to be one.
I’ve cruised through the centuries managing to avoid all the wars, supernatural and human, but still going to all the best parties.
I would say I avoided bloodshed, but it’s kind of part of the whole ‘vampire’ thing.
I’ve lived on the fringes of a society that considered cruelty and sadism favorable character traits for almost five hundred years. Now I'm in the middle of a war that might just put my nonbeating heart in a lot of danger.
Battles, I can handle.
The impossible attraction between me and the vampire slayer, not to mention the penetrating gaze of the king of our race, on the other hand?
I might not get out undead.
ADD TO GOODREADS
Sometimes when I read a book I can tell from page one I’m going to love it, and Fatal Harmony did exactly that for me. I honestly can say I could not stop reading once I started because Anne Malcom just has this way with words, and it’s almost impossible not to be consumed by her heartbreakingly beautiful words.
I have so much to say about Fatal Harmony, but I really don’t know how to express how much I truly loved reading it. Paranormal has always been my favorite genre to read, and of course when you add Anne Malcom to the mix, I jumped head first to read it. Now, I’ve read a ton of paranormal books about vampires, but Fatal Harmony is so unique and Anne did a wonderful job making this one stand out. That’s one of the main reasons why I loved this one so much. It’s so different, and not to mention it’s packed with action. Another great thing about Fatal Harmony is it’s easy to follow. The story-line is laid out brilliantly and even though it’s a series, I never once was confused or felt as if the story was missing something. Anne really has outdone herself with this new and so interesting series.
I can say without a doubt that Isla, is by far my favorite character Anne has created. Isla is everything you want to see in a lead heroine, and she definitely did not lose my attention. Isla is smart, beautiful, feisty, and underneath her hard exterior, she’s different in so many ways. While Isla may appear to be just like everyone else in her race, she is kind and caring to humans in her own way. But you just have to read the book to know why she is the way she seems. Her past is one that left my heart broken and I felt as if I was hurting right along with her. Isla is also strong and she knows how to protect the ones she cares for. I will also say Isla has this witty humor about her and can often find herself in the most troubling situations. She handled it well though, especially when two hot alphas come into play. I won’t go into much detail with the king, Rick, or the slayer, Throne. Those I won’t really talk about because you won’t get the full effect. I really didn’t know how Anne was going to play these two characters into the book, but I will say, it’s not what you’re expecting. At least for me it wasn’t. I really loved both Rick and Throne, and I’m super curious to see how things will go in book two.
I really wish Fatal Harmony never ended, but with all great things, they must come to an end. I will also say, the ending literally had me sitting on the edge of my seat and my heart was pounding in my chest. I really wish book two was out because if it was, I would already be reading it. There’s just so much about Fatal Harmony that made it amazing, and it has made my top read list for this year. It’s one I know I’ll be reading again and again. I strongly recommend reading this one and I absolutely cannot wait to read book two.
Anne Malcom has been an avid reader since before she can remember, her mother responsible for her book addiction. It started with magical journeys into the world of Hogwarts and Middle Earth; then as she grew up her reading tastes grew with her. Her obsession with books and romance novels in particular gave Anne the opportunity to find another passion, writing. Finding writing about alpha males and happily ever afters more fun than reading about them, Anne is not about to stop any time soon.
Raised in small town New Zealand, Anne had a truly special childhood, growing up in one of the most beautiful countries in the world.
