Is this love or just a game?

Tori Rivera thinks Jamie McCade is rude, arrogant, and worst of all . . . the sexiest man she's ever laid eyes on. His reputation as a player is almost as legendary as his surfing skills. No matter how her body heats up when he's around, she's determined not to be another meaningless hookup.

Jamie McCade always gets what he wants. The sickest wave. The hottest women. And Tori, with her long legs and smart mouth, is definitely the hottest one. He knows Tori wants him—hell, most women do—but she won't admit it. After months of chasing and one unforgettable kiss, it's time for Jamie to raise the stakes.

Jamie promises that soon Tori won't just want him in her bed, she'll be begging for it-and he might be right. Somehow he's found the spot in her heart that makes her open up like never before. But with all she knows about his past, can she really trust what's happening between them? Is Jamie playing for keeps or just playing to win?

When Hit The Spot popped up Netgalley and then later as an invite in our blog inbox, it was an instantaneous yes for me.  The first book in this series, Four Letter Word, was absolutely amazing and I jumped at the chance to dive back into this world and meet a secondary set of characters from FLW more intimately.

I’ll admit that I was never a big Jamie/Tori shipper in FLW.  Tori got the worst of the worst when it came to her married ex-boyfriend Wes, but I couldn’t see her jumping in the arms of a surf star player with a dirty mouth.  Those feelings continued into the first chapter of HTS, but I grew to like Jamie.  He has a dirty mouth, a dirty mind, and a good heart in the end.  Granted, there were moments where I wanted to smack the ever loving crap of out of him, but I would forgive him pretty easily afterwards.

Now, Tori is a completely different story.  She is a fiery, spit fire of a girl who is still dealing with the issues of her ex.  While I do not condone affairs, she didn’t have a clue that she was the other woman until the end of FLW.  That’s not fair to judge any one, but the heartbreak for her was real even if Wes deserved more than a tire slashing. Heart break after heart break came for Tori, and I was afraid for her when Jamie started sniffing around her. Yet she fought back in her own funny way and I fell in her love with for it.

That being said, Hit the Spot fell into more of a four star range for me.  I had some issues with Jamie’s behavior and Tori’s decision making at times that I just couldn’t connect with them as I would have wanted to do.  Does that mean I didn’t like the book? Absolutely not, but in fairness, I did have to compare it to Four Letter Word and its five star amazeball-ness.
