Love was my weakness.
In the light of the truth, no one can hide.

Derek had ignited a spark inside of my heart, a hope for a love I never expected to find. However, our connection lacked the substance it needed to burn. Weakened with resentment, our relationship crumbled under deception, slowly dissolving into ash.

I had sacrificed myself for him and paid the price.

By the time Brandon entered into my life, the longing in my heart had turned cold. But fate was not done with me. His crystal blue eyes and fluid touch revived a wish that had been frozen in time. He gave me hope once again.

Hope is a dangerous thing, especially when you dare to dream.

Review: This was my first book by E.M. and I have to say the writing was amazing and I was sucked in from the get go. This is a story a lot of women can probably relate too. Not so much as the whole story within it’s self, but at least parts of the story.

Penelope gave up everything for Derek. She left her family and gave up her dreams. He was her plan and her purpose. He was supposed to be her true love and she planned on spending the rest of her life with him. For nine years, she thought her marriage was perfect until one day it wasn’t. She thought she had her true purpose in life until she didn’t. In the blink of an eye everything changed.

Now Penelope spends her days getting high and drinking her pain away instead of dealing with it head on. She has completely lost herself and doesn’t feel like she can ever return until Brandon. Brandon was never supposed to be in the picture. She pushed him away at first, but fate stepped in. But now for the first time in years, Penelope can actually feel herself coming alive, but were her and Brandon doomed from the start or is this really her second chance at happiness?

This story is beautifully written. I feel in love with the characters. At times, I felt like I was actually apart of the story. This book is full of secrets, lies, and betrayal and sometimes it’s not easy to read. Penelope hasn’t had the best life, but now it’s her second chance to take life by the reins and choose a new path. I wish the ending would have been a bit longer and I would have love to see a little more into the future, but fingers crossed for a novella because I would definitely read it.
