Review: Grey by E L James

Review: Grey E.L. James

Publication Date: June 18, 2015
Series: Book 4 as told by Christian
Rating: 5 Stars from Nikki and Lauren

Official Blurb: See the world of Fifty Shades of Grey anew through the eyes of Christian Grey.

In Christian's own words, and through his thoughts, reflections, and dreams, E L James offers a fresh perspective on the love story that has enthralled millions of readers around the world.

Christian Grey exercises control in all things; his world is neat, disciplined, and utterly empty—until the day that Anastasia Steele falls into his office, in a tangle of shapely limbs and tumbling brown hair. He tries to forget her, but instead is swept up in a storm of emotion he cannot comprehend and cannot resist. Unlike any woman he has known before, shy, unworldly Ana seems to see right through him—past the business prodigy and the penthouse lifestyle to Christian’s cold, wounded heart.

Will being with Ana dispel the horrors of his childhood that haunt Christian every night? Or will his dark sexual desires, his compulsion to control, and the self-loathing that fills his soul drive this girl away and destroy the fragile hope she offers him?

This book is intended for mature audiences.

Just like everyone else I was so excited to find out that Fifty Shades was being told through the lovely eyes of Christian Grey. I literally devoured this book in one day. I could not put it down. Yes it’s the same book as the first but it’s every single question you had during the first one answered and so much more to Christian.

Just when you think you know Christian you honestly have no idea. Yes he pissed me off several times throughout this book but I didn’t expect any different because we all knew from the first he had the mind set of a teenager. Even though I hate Elena, it was very interesting to see his relationship with her. I am still not a fan of hers and probably never will be. It was also amazing to see how much Ana actually changed him and the things he was thinking during their time together. Not everything you will love but it will make you look at this story in a whole new light. You can see the changes in Christian from the time he met her until the very end of this book. I honestly hope E.L. decides to do the next 2 books. I am a Christian Grey girl through and through and always will be. Loved every minute!!!

Grey took me by surprise. I knew that going into Christian's head would be a much different journey than Ana's side of the story. One of the highlights for me is seeing his relationship with Elena aka Mrs. Robinson in the first book of the trilogy. Knowing the ulterior motives of this woman from reading Ana's point of view for the entire series, it brought to light how manipulative Mrs. Robinson truly is and her effect on Christian's Psyche. Christian really doesn't come off as the bastard we knew him to be in Fifty Shades of Grey. He is guarded when it concerns his family and heart.  He's never let anyone in and you feel his struggle about his attraction and desire to have Ana in his life. There's a lot of naysayers out there about this book, but I loved the insight in Fifty's head.  I can't wait for the next one!
