Review: Escaping Destiny by Amelia Hutchins

Publication Date: 2/17/2014
Series: The Fae Chronicles #3
Rating: 5 Stars

Official Blurb:

I thought things couldn't get worse. I was wrong.

I found out what I really wanted and was forced to give him up. Just as I found out who I really am, I was presented to the elusive Horde King as a gift.

This was the mystical being I was hidden from for more than twenty years.

Although Ryder promised to save me, I couldn't let him get near this creature, so I willingly (sort of) signed myself over to be his new plaything.

Now in the Horde Realm, nothing is going remotely like I thought it would.

My powers and emotions are on the fritz, and each day seems to bring surprises that I am not sure how to deal with.

The Horde King thinks he has me exactly where he wants me. He thinks he has taken all of my options away.

I still have choices.

Embracing what destiny has planned for me, or escaping it.

As you can probably guess, I immediately dived into this book when I finished Taunting Destiny because holy hell that ending was a gamechanger. I literally considered calling off work to finish this book so I could know immediately was going to happen with Synthia’s latest revelation of her origins. I didn’t but it was SO tempting.  This book left me speechless more times than in my entire life. I was so emotional wrecked by the time I finished it I was nearly an empty shell. I think as the series has gone on that Escaping Destiny is the game changing book with so many unthinkable twists and turns to the story.

Here’s where the review for this book becomes tricky, I honestly cannot tell you ANYTHING about the plot line or the characters without giving away the darkly hidden Fae secrets. Sure, I could spoil it for everyone with laying down what possible could be the best literary reveal in the history of books, but that goes against my moral code of being a reviewer. Instead, I will tell you this, take everything you thought you knew about Syn’s world  and just chuck it outside. Escaping Destiny is going to be the book in the series that will shift the way the game is truly played. Be prepared for frustration, fear, betrayal, and passion to flood your senses as you dive into this book. I will leave you simply with this, things are rotten in the state of Fairy and Synthia is a part of the key to set the world right.
