Review: Blackness Takes Over by Norma Jeanne Karlsson

Publication Date: January 4, 2014
Series: The Blackness Series Book 1
Rating: 5 Stars

Official Blurb:

Shannon Kelly’s life has been anything but typical. Her life has been altered viciously at the hands of others twice. However horrible they have been, it’s these changes that have given her a family and career…now possibly love. The last thirteen years she has been supported and loved by her protector, her entertainer, and her comforter, but never a lover. When Dylan Kellerman enters Shannon’s life he changes its course in more ways than one. He gives her hope and promise of a future she was convinced wasn’t attainable. Just as she begins to believe she has finally turned her life into something she can build a future on…blackness takes over.

This was my first book by Norma and I was sucked in within the first few pages. Just when you think things are going good, secrets start to unravel and you don’t know which way to go. This is an amazing book that will keep you laughing throughout the whole book. I am giving this book 5 starts.

Shannon is by far one of the best lead female characters I have ever read about. She is so independent and so open and doesn’t hide herself or try to impress anyone. There were times I wanted to reach through my kindle and high five her because she doesn’t take mess from anyone.

Kel is still very mysterious too me. Even though I do love him and Shannon together, I feel like he is hiding a lot of his past. Shannon has opened up to him so much but yet he hasn’t revealed very much of himself.

The guys in this book are my favorites. When the story starts we get background of Shannon AKA Kid’s life and how she meets the boys Kavy, Sully, and Cally. These 3 guys and their families love Shannon so much. They all have such a strong bond and it’s very touching at times what they would do for her. Be prepared to laugh to the point of tears several times.

Everything was going good throughout the book. Things were falling into to place and then all of a sudden bam. Multiple things happen at one time. Secrets or possibly lies started to unfold that had my mouth hanging open. Be prepared this is a cliff hanger book but I am immediately going into book 2 because I can’t wait to find out more.
