Review: Fighting Destiny by Amelia Hutchins

Publication Date: 6/4/2013
Series: The Fae Chronicles #1
Rating: 4.5 Stars

Official Blurb:

Have you ever heard of the old Celtic legends of the Fae - beautiful, magical, and deadly creatures that have a love of messing with humans just for kicks and giggles?

Welcome to my world.

What started out as a strange assignment, lead to one of the most gruesome murder mysteries of our times. My friends and I are set and determined to find out who is killing off Fae and Witches alike.

Couple of problems in the way – I hate the Fae and the Prince of the Dark Fae is bound and determined that I work for him. He’s a rude, overbearing egotistical ass with a compulsive need to possess, dominate and control me. Oh – did I mention that he is absolutely sex-on-a-stick gorgeous and he makes me feel things that I never ever wanted to feel for a Fae...every time he touches me or looks at me with those dangerous golden eyes he seems to pull me further in under his spell, despite my better judgment.

My friends and I can’t trust anyone and nothing is as it seems on the surface – not even me.

As a debut novel in a new series, I have certain expectations that usually aren’t met. I think with a first book in a series not only should you get enough background to the world building, but should be able to establish an emotional connection to the characters themselves. Amelia Hutchins has literally blown my expectations for a debut series novel out of the ever loving water. By the time I put down Fighting Destiny, I knew that I would immediately have to plow into the entire series with no regard to life going on around me. Sorry husband and family, but when a book sinks its literary claws into me there’s no stopping the book binge. As a book, Fighting Destiny was pure unyielding fun and passion from the very first chapter. The characters were on point with their complexities that I simply love when it comes to the Fae world. The Fae are creatures full of mystery and intrigue when it comes to their affairs to the human world. Let’s break down the main characters Synthia and Ryder.

Synthia is a very powerful witch working for The Guild while seeking revenge for the murder of her parents. The Guild is an organization out to protect the human races from all of the otherworld creatures. So say that Syn is the top of her class is like saying that Patriots deserved to win the Super Bowl. She has serious powers that she has to keep hidden away because she does things that no one else should. She’s reserved in her professional and personal life because of a loss in her past. She only allows in those she can truly trust, but that’s about to change. Her latest assignment from The Guild is about to set into motion a chain reaction of events that will leave her life forever changed.

Ryder the Dark Fae Prince is sex wrapped into a solid being. Fae being Fae are always sexual beings, but Ryder’s idea of love and passion would make Christian Grey blush at times. He is as ruthless in the throne room as he is in his bedroom. Synthia’s assignment to help his cause for saving the Fae world comes at a serious price. His attraction to her leaves him not only hot and bothered by her dismissal of his attentions, but frustrated that a human could affect him this way. He will have her and she will submit to him, but when that night is over, what will come next for him as a leader and as a Fae man.

Hutchins has delivered an amazing beginning to a new series. Fighting Destiny only gives us a slight glimmer of insight to the world that is to come and how each character develops as the story progresses. Fighting Destiny will literally slap you in the face, make you ugly cry, and smile all within a few set of chapters. The emotions you will feel as your read this book will make your family wonder if you’ve gone crazy. I have to say the lack of resolution for major plot lines in this book makes me want more and when I mean more I’m referring to an Incredible Hulk sized desire of MORE!

But Spencer isn't the alpha's second and enforcer because he isn't willing to fight for what's his, and he refuses to settle for anything less than Eliza as his marked and claimed mate.

Thrown to the Wolves
Annora Channing's entire world changes the moment she discovers she's a bear shifter. With mated wolves for parents, she should have been a wolf also. When her situation goes from bad to worse, Annora escapes but is badly injured in the process. Luckily, Elias Reve comes to her rescue while on his way to Wolf's Point and the daughter he lost years ago. With nowhere else to go and nobody to turn to, Annora joins him on his journey and ends up running smack-dab into the arms of her mate.

Parker Tate knows Annora is his the moment he lays eyes on her. When he manages to mate and mark her within hours of when they meet, he considers himself lucky. Then the trouble nipping at Annora's heels finds her and Parker realizes the path to claiming his mate won't be as easy as he thought - especially not with the bears involved.

Review: Dark Alpha Box Set by Alisa Woods

Publication Date: 3/30/2015
Rating: 5 Stars

Official Blurb:

Shifters live in the shadows of Seattle, just under the skin of the alpha male, dot-com entrepreneurs who are building a new Silicon Valley in the Emerald City.

Jak enjoys the female human population of Seattle as much as any wolf, but his heart belongs to a female shifter who’s already mated. Worse, she’s the mate of his alpha’s brother.

Arianna was captured from her pack when she was only twenty and mated to a wolf whose dark side takes full advantage of her unbreakable bond to him. Her nights belong to him, but her days are free to explore other things… including feelings for a wolf she can never have.

Is love stronger than magic? Or will breaking an unbreakable bond destroy them both?

Book 1: Torment

Jak wants what he cannot have. He shouldn’t want another alpha’s mate, but since setting his eyes on Arianna she’s all he can think about. The consequences for even thinking about her is sure to lead to his death, but when he she’s how lonely her eyes are and her need to feel real love and freedom, can he continue to deny what he feels?

All Arianna wants is a chance to run free and to know what it truly means to be free. Stolen away from her home and mated against her will, she lives a life of seclusion and torture in the form of her mate’s sexual passion for her. She feels empty, but when the chance to finish her degree gives her a taste of what’s she’s yearned for so long, she has to take it. But, its when her bodyguard turns out to be the guy she’s crushed on her entire time with the Red Pack, she has to decide whether to drop her guard or live the lie forced upon her.

Woods picked the perfect title for the beginning novella. Torment aptly describes what both characters are currently facing. Though the torment may not exactly be the same, it has changed their lives for the worst. The only shining light they have to cling to is whatever is developing between them. What could be a budding friendship will blur pack lines and the line in the sand when it comes to mistreated mates. Readers will not be disappointed in the latest addition to a new novella series by Alisa Woods. Bring on the Pleasure!!

Book 2: Pleasure

Good Grief!! If you thought the plot thicken at the end of Torment, you have no idea what you are about to walk into. Things continue to heat up between Jak and Arianna’s mate Mace as the news of their attack hit home. Couple that with Jak and Arianna’s sordid affair becoming more and more dangerous being added to the volatile mix and you’ve got the recipe for disaster on the horizon. The additional characters that are new to the ever thickening plot bring to light something that may affect Jak and Arianna‘s desire and need to be each other’s mate. Jak is faced with likely on the hardest decisions in his life. Do you die trying to save the one you love or fall to your knees in defeat?

Book 3: Deception

Uh oh… here we go! Big Decisions are about to me made and be damned the consequences. The revelation from the witches have set in stone the action Jak must take in order to liberate Arianna from Mace. The question is whether or not she’ll be willingly to make the same sacrifice for freedom and love. Deception sets the wheels in motion for heart pounding suspense and action. The cliff hanger in this book is the best so far of the series!! Things are about to go bat crap crazy in the Red Wolf Pack!!

Book 4: Escape

Ahh!!!!! I don’t know where to even begin with this review. This is the turning point in the series! Our star crossed lovers are on the run and their lives are about to forever change.  Holy crap this novella series is good and it only continues to get better and better. Now if they could only break that mate pesky mate bond ;)

Book 5: Penance

Heartstoppingly Good! Woods has literally stunned me. I was not expecting the twists and turns that have unraveled for Jak and Arianna. The cliffhanger is enough that it made me cry knowing I had to wait to fight out what was going to happen in the final chapter. I was screaming at Jak at the beginning of Penance and crying for him at the end. Grab the tissues.. you’re going to need them!!

Book 6: Loved

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!!! This serial novella set is just mind blowing. After the emotional tearjerking cliffhanger, I wasn’t sure what to think about going into Loved. I knew that my heartache would fall into one of two categories, mourning or sweet romance. It would be spoiling to tell you which one will happen.. so I guess all I have left to say is… READ IT!!!

She's a fiery, sassy little thing, and he's an alpha male intent on fighting the temptation he feels for her. Their combination is explosive and you'll enjoy every smoking hot, thigh clenching moment

Undercover is my very first Kasey Millstead book! HOLY MF-ING GOD! WOW!  I was literally blown away with this book. I’ll admit I forewent about 2 hours worth of work because I couldn’t put this book down after starting it on my lunch break. I didn’t see so many of the plot twists coming and for a seasoned reader like me that takes some serious plotting skills. I can usually spot the major plot twists within a few chapters, but not with this book.

Roman is our sex on a stick bad boy biker… or is he? Roman may just be deceiving everyone around him to get his mission done. He constantly fights an internal battle between duty and his heart.  The MC rules his life, but he’s been denying his heart the reason that it beats. Things aren’t what they seem just like Roman. The only thing he knows is that he needs to stay away from Willa. He’ll suck her down with him into the dark abyss with him, but tell that to his other brain and heart. He wants her like a drug addict wants a fix. A threat causes him move sooner than planned because he is not about to let some low life thug take away him woman.

Willa knows the lines that she cannot cross with the club. Her brother being a member has laid down some strict ground rules to protect her from any back lash from the club’s dealings. She’s finally settling into her new life and job at Club Z. Yet, every time the silence of tall dark and handsome that is one of her brother’s club brothers she anything less than calm, cool, and collected. This man lights her panties on fire and he doesn’t even give her the time of day. But, this man rides to her rescue when a past threat comes home demanding money. She knows she shouldn’t let him in, but she’s got no choice.

I don’t know what more I can say about how awesome a read this book really is for me. It’s got everything you could want out of an MC book and so much more. Undercover leaves your heart pounding and your panties wet. The twists and turns will leave you on the edge of your seat. Fans of dirty mouthed bikers, explosive romantic chemistry, and suspenseful romances will love this book just as much as I did! This comes HIGHY recommended from Saints and Sinners Books!

Review: Strength from Loyalty by Autumn Jones Lake

Publication Date: 3/17/2015
Series: Lost Kings MC #3
Rating: 5 Stars

Official Blurb:

ROCK & HOPE part three.

Struggling attorney, Hope Kendall loves her outlaw, biker boyfriend, Rochlan “Rock” North with all her heart, but the questionable activities his motorcycle club are involved in are about to threaten the legal career she’s not even sure she still wants.

Rock finally has the support of all his officers to bring Hope deeper into the inner circle of the Lost Kings MC. When his offer to have the club help her out of her legal predicament is met with hostility, he’s once again forced to question whether they are able to make their drastic differences work for the long haul.

A near death makes any squabble seem insignificant, but puts a cloud over their future. And while Rock has been working hard to give Hope the honesty she craves, one secret she’s been keeping all along, may finally drive them apart for good.

This series has honestly broken me for 99.9% of MC Romance books. Lake’s unlikely romance between two people from two very different walks of life really struck a chord with me on multiple levels. While most people read a book just to pass the time and frankly I do the same thing 90% of the time, I relish when I find one book or a book series that makes me feel so connected to the story and the meaning behind it. Lake’s plot basis of these two star crossed lovers working together to beat the world trying to rip them apart. The title for this book is sheer perfection because it encompasses the true meaning of this story. The emotions you will feel when you read this novel and series for that matter is what I can only compare to an emotional rollercoaster. One minute you are flying high with a huge smile on your face and next you’re covering your eyes screaming and crying as you flip upside down going 100 mph.

Rock and Hope’s love story has really been a tale of two worlds. Hope’s profession as a lawyer seems quite odd when you think about her relationship with a motorcycle club president. He’s fast, dangerous, and deadly when necessary compared to her calm, cool demure in the court room. Yet, Hope has that inner sassy bitch inside of her, but the tragedy in her life keeps snuffing her sass back into submission. Rock is the yang to Hope’s ying. They balance each other out even if they fight about how their lives fit together.

The epic conclusion to Rock and Hope’s story isn’t without some serious heart break. As this series begin with loss so shall it end with loss. The realization after this tragic event occurs about the future of some of these characters didn’t really set in until hours after I finished. My heart ached for them as if I was mourning right alongside of them. However, from ashes comes renewal and rebirth. As this series continues with other characters from Rock’s MC, I know I will love their stories just as much as I loved Rock and Hope’s tale of love. This book comes highly recommended by Saints and Sinners Books and if you’re looking for a taste of something wonderful then you should probably pick this book series up STAT.

Review: Beast of Burden By A.Z. Green

Publication Date: November 28, 2014
Series: The Hidden Blood Series Book 2
Rating: 5 stars

Official Blurb:

Pack Leaders who were allies at the time of the Vikings, had rings made to remind them of who they were and what they stood for. Weremen of peace, justice and loyalty. We try to stand by that principle.

After the attempt on Nik's life, he and Jaz leave Deer Creek to escape the dangers and judgements on both their heads. But many are determined to find them and drag them back.

Curs are creeping out of the woodwork and making themselves known by the increase of deaths, kidnappings and rapes but it seems the Head Council are looking the other way.

Jaz and Nik put their differences aside to begin her training in self-defence and controlling her ability to Change. Jaz allows herself to trust him again despite their rocky start, and in doing so, she soon understands the true reasons behind his past actions.

Things aren't what they seem.

Packs are stirring, enemies are coming out to play, humans will be caught in the crossfire, hybrid Weres must fight for their survival and sides must be picked.

Which side are you on?

This novel has scenes in it which readers may find offensive or traumatic. Recommended for 18+

This book again isn’t for the faint of heart, murder, rape, mutilation and gruesome fights happen amongst the weres.  I couldn’t wait to find out more about Jaz and the rest of the Deer Creek Pack. I wanted to know who was behind what happened with Jaz, the pack leader and the killing of humans. We start off with Jaz and Nik on the run, he concocted a trip to get her out of harm’s way. He knows who is behind everything, and that he is about to be overthrown.

Jaz really comes into her own, she is a quick, and a fast learner. Although, emotions are what motivate her to act, so that being said, she had yet to change into her true were form until this book. There are some traumatic events that take place, Jaz has to go through a lot of pain and lose some loved ones as well. We find out that not everything it as it seems and not everyone is on your side or your friend. EVEN family will turn their back on you at one point or another in this world. I really enjoyed this story, again it was packed (no pun intended) full of action, drama, intense scenes, as well as sweet, endearing moments. Jaz is special, and I think she is about to find out just what that means, and what she is capable of. I can’t wait to find out what happens with Jaz, and Nik next. They are leading another journey and I’m sure it’s going to be a wild ride.

Review: Beasthood by A.Z. Green

Publication Date: May 22, 2013
Series: The Hidden Blood Series
Rating: 5 stars

Official Blurb:

The bloody, raw meat was tantalizing her; calling to her. She hated it and yearned for it all at once.
Stop, she ordered. What are you doing?!
So hungryyyyy, snarled a primal voice deep within her.
Don’t you dare! she screamed back.
But the primal hunger ignored her pleas and took over her body, forcing her rational voice deep within the crevices of her mind.

What would you do if you discovered you weren't human? That you turned into a bloodthirstmonster against your will?

What if your instincts, emotions and desires were torn between your own and the dark, dangerous animal lurking inside of you?

If it could make you yearn for someone you shouldn't, make you say and act in ways you wouldn't and overwhelm your whole existence?
If everything you'd ever known about your life was a lie?

In a world where a deeply hidden community is swathed in mystery, deadly secrets, betrayal and murder, Jaz Barker struggles to fight against the dangerous Beast within her and the emotions and desires it thrusts her way.

When tensions ride high and people she cares about are put in danger, she will have to decide how much of her newly awakened animal-side she's willing to let in.

And if it is worth the risk...

When I read the blurb for this book, I knew that it was a story that I would enjoy. Jasmine or Jaz is the main character, she is 21 and seems to know she is different from others. She is very strong, independent, she likes to do things her own way and on her own time. She experienced a very traumatic event that even the doctors cannot explain, making her family assume she is a convincing liar. Jasmine will soon learn what it is that makes her so different from her family and friends, and has a hard time coping. After learning she has an estranged aunt, she is whisked away with her to a “resort”, but it’s anything but a vacation for Jaz.
She will eventually find a whole other side/identity which she struggles with on a daily basis, meeting danger, and maybe even love.

This characters really had me sucked into their world! There is quite a bit that happens to Jaz, and we get to meet a lot of characters who play a big role in Jaz’s life and wellbeing. One being the pack leader who she is drawn to and has no clue why. The twists and turns kept me turning pages to find out what happens next, does this new community accept her, or will they turn their back once they find out the truth about Jaz and what she is???  I’m looking forward to reading the next book, there is some information that I just have to know! If you are looking for a book that is packed with action, has wolves, twists and turns and maybe a little love story, this is for you!

Review: Trust by Viola Rivard

Series: Running with Alphas #1
Rating: 5 stars

Official Blurb:

From New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author, Viola Rivard...

On the run from the law, Taylor Michaels finds refuge among a secluded werewolf pack and in the arms of its two alphas, twin brothers Alder and Hale.

This was my first book I have read by Viola Rivard. I really enjoyed learning more about the pack, and the wolves that it involved. Alder has become a new favorite of mine as well. He’s strong, fearless, and ungodly hot! Although he is an “alpha” he doesn’t come off as a dominate male like other alpha males I have read about do. It was a nice change to see how differently alphas can be. Not saying he can’t handle his own, cause he totally can. Taylor on the other hand was and still is a mystery to me. She’s running from something and I can’t wait to find out what it is. I liked that when she found out things from Alder she didn’t freak out and run for the hills like most sane women would do. I enjoyed this book and I will be one clicking more to find out what will happen next!

Review: Evolution by Zana King

Publication Date: 2/1/2015
Series: Ternion #1

Rating: 4 Stars

Official Blurb:

Warning: Revised/Reedited Version. For Mature Adult Audiences. Contains language and actions some may deem offensive. Sexually explicit content. Ménage – MMF.

In book one of Ternion: Jasmine's life has had its rough spots, but nothing like she is faced with after obtaining a financial windfall. Well that's what she thought until she attends a wrestling match with her best friend. One evening out has the potential to send her life spiraling, leaving her with a choice to make.

Kai and Zane are professional wrestlers who share a bond that goes beyond the arena. A bond which sent them on a mission to find the one woman who would complete them. When they finally spot her in the crowd, it was as if the struggles they had gone through, the searching, had finally paid off. Now they only have to hope she accepts them for who they truly are to fill a void they've felt for years.

However, when Jasmine's best friend disappears, she falls apart, leaving them reluctant to tell her the truth. A secret that could chase her away, causing them to lose her forever.
Will Jasmine take the chance, embrace life's unexpected surprises, or will she send them away, never to know what the future could hold?

Zana King’s debut novel is a home run! This book is full of passion and suspenseful turmoil! King’s unique concept of human evolution is stunning. While this book does feature a ménage couple, King delivers a passionate love story without the internal drama between lovers. There are some surprising twists and turns that I didn’t see coming and that takes a lot for a season reader like myself. I loved that the unexpected twists added a new dynamic to the already intriguing story. Evolution takes a ménage paranormal romance story and evolves it to the next level and dare I say future of the PNR world.

Series: Ema Marx #3
Rating: 4 Stars

Ema Marx is in a race against time. Or rather, a race against Apollyon. A powerful weapon—the legendary philosopher’s stone—could tip the scale in favor of whoever gets their fangs on it first. For Ema, obtaining the stone is an uphill battle through love, alliance, heartbreak, and loyalty. Winning should mean the beginning of beautiful things, but the closer Ema gets to her destiny, the more uncertain her future becomes. Could it be this war was never meant for her? And why the heck doesn’t morning sickness adhere to rules of its own name?

Chapter One

The bullet missed my eye by two inches. It flew past my temple, grazed a few strands of hair, and struck Jesu’s Adam’s apple.

Time slowed. I turned to face him and my heart stopped at the sight of blood trickling down his neck. His arms fell away from my waist and he staggered back one, two steps. He lifted a hand to the wound, his emerald gaze widened in shock. He took a third step back—and toppled over the edge of the loft. My breath hitched as I flung my hands into the air to grab him, but I was too late.

Jesu hit the dirt floor of the barn with a heavy thump and I screamed. I dove onto my stomach and scrambled to the ledge. Digging my fingernails into the wooden floorboards, I glanced at the scene below, heart pounding.

Jesu landed on his back, his arms and legs splayed, his long hair tossed across his face. His eyes were open underneath, but they didn’t move—didn’t blink. He lay so still—too still. My blood ran cold. Terror erupted from my lungs.

My cry drew a chorus of pops and snaps. Frantic, I glanced around the empty space, not understanding the strange sounds until, from the shadowy corners of the moldy barn, emerged a group of nude Alpan vampires. Several more dropped from the ceiling, shifting from arachnid to humanoid form in mid-air.

King Nikolas’ soldiers. They responded to my shouts of distress, inching closer to Jesu with looks of concern.

I need to get to Jesu. My hands trembled as I pushed to my knees and crawled toward the ladder. My nerves shook too much to phase or fly. Where did that shot come from?

My fingers almost reached the first rung when a hand gripped my shoulder and yanked me through the air. I landed on my spine, hitting the rickety loft floor. A cloud of dust rose from the impact, blurring my vision. The silhouette of a man appeared through the haze. He straddled my stomach and used his weight to pin me in place. Pale ring-clad fingers gripped my neck and squeezed. Two blades sliced the skin under his choking grip and a searing pain cut through my flesh. A wet stickiness oozed over my neck and soaked the collar of my shirt. Gasping under the pain, I jabbed my fingers between his and tried with all my might to pry off his hands. Feeling the odd shape of his rings, each one fused to the next, I realized he wore some sort of brass knuckles weapon with a knife fixed to the underside. The man wasn’t just trying to choke me to death…he meant to sever my head. The dust settled and my gaze flew over his black leather attire. His chin-length mass of thick black hair fell over his face, obscuring his identity, but that didn’t matter. I’d recognize him anywhere. His methods were entirely too familiar.

“Jalmari,” I grunted. “You bastard.”

A breeze blew in from the missing portion of the upper barn wall and lifted his hair, confirming what I already knew. His dark green irises shone in the moonlight and he grinned, flashing each one of his razor sharp fangs.

Every ounce of fear from a moment ago transformed into red-hot fury. I lifted my knees and pushed my feet against the floor, rolling us both onto our sides. I willed myself to de-solidify, but his grip kept me firmly in the third dimension. He levitated, still holding me by the neck. The blades cut deep, lodging under my flesh as my toes left the floor and my weight became a disadvantage. Not having any other choice, I used my ability to levitate with him, countering gravity to lessen the death grip around my windpipe. Together, we rose through the collapsed side of the roof, out into the night. I glanced down just in time to see the Alpan soldiers clambering up the ladder. They were very small and blurry in the periphery of my vision.

Jalmari snickered. “They cannot help you, rat.”

I rolled my eyes at the derogatory taunt, but didn’t respond. For one thing, his weapon still carved into my throat and I worried speech would accelerate further damage. Secondly, he was wrong. The Alpans could shape-shift, which meant they could turn into birds and peck Jalmari’s stupid eyes out. I wasn’t going to wait for their help, though. I could be headless by then. My throat swelled as the blades neared my trachea. The edges of my vision darkened to a hazy gray and my lungs burned in protest. I was going to pass out from lack of oxygen before he killed me.

No, this isn’t how it ends.

This series just honestly keeps getting better and better. As emotionally charged and thrilling as Dark Liaison was with its deliciously dark twisted plot, Dark Becoming kicks it up another notch. Ema has faced so many obstacles with the prophecy that has loomed over her head since far before her birth. She’s managed to bring the one person back from the dead who will literally rains hell on earth.  The only way to fix the mistake she’s made is to lay her life and soul on the line to save the people she loves and the world. But, there are things about this deal that will make you cringe. It’s not just about her anymore and she’s about to make the biggest decision/disastrous deal in her life.

There were moments in this book that I thought to myself as my heart pounded almost out of my chest and the tears rolled down my face whether or not I could literally continue the physical and emotional reactions I was getting from reading Dark Becoming. Never before has a book threatened my physical health. I was so wrapped up in this book that at times I forgot to eat and would forego sleep just to read. My poor husband even missed a meal because I wasn’t about to put this book down before I finished it. For a book to physically manifest feelings of pain, hurt, and disgust marvels me even days after I’ve finished it. This book isn’t just words written on a page, but an emotional sensation packed ride through a fictional literary tale. Even know thinking about this book brings on emotions. This isn’t a book, but an experience for readers. Brown’s series has literally taken the paranormal literature world by its head and tossed it years into the future of literature and writing. This book is so well before its time that I think anyone who hasn’t read this series and book yet are missing out on what could be one the best reading experiences of 2015!!!

DARK HEIRLOOM (An Ema Marx Novel 1)
“You’re a vampire” is so not what Ema Marx wants to hear when she wakes from a two-day coma in a cryptic yet exquisite castle in northern Finland. Unfortunately, it explains a lot. Like why she’s able to see in the dark and walk through solid objects. What she doesn’t understand is why the other vampires expect her to have all the answers. It’s their fault she turned into one of them…right? Jalmari’s hatred for his old-man intensifies when he’s ordered to bring that troublesome girl to their castle. He has a clan to run, there’s no time for babysitting newborn vampires no matter how they were converted to their culture. But when a two-thousand-year-old premonition threatens to take the crown and his life, Jalmari sees no other choice than to take out the catalyst. Ema Marx. Fortunately for Ema, she could also be the clan’s only savior. The race to figure out her vampiric origins is on. And maybe she’ll get the hang of the blood-drinking gig along the way.

ATHENA’S ORACLE (An Heirloom Vampyres Novella 0.5)
Leena’s ‘gift of sight’ secures her place as the next great oracle of Athena. Instead of being groomed for wifehood like other girls, Leena spends her days within the walls of the Acropolis, shuffled around by the clergy and doomed to be a virgin forever. Before her ascension, Leena decides to take matters into her own hands. With the help of her father’s book of alchemy, she casts an incantation calling forth her own personal hero. But when that hero turns out to be a rogue vampyre prince with a haunted past, Leena begins to question if her feelings for him are the work of divine intervention, or a love spell gone horribly wrong. Athena’s Oracle is a prequel to the novels Dark Heirloom and Dark Liaison, also by J.D. Brown. Set in 4th century B.C.E., Athena’s Oracle chronicles the romance between Leena and Jalmari during the very early trials of their immortal lives.

J.D. Brown knows that vampires exist because she’s dating one and no, he doesn’t sparkle. Unfortunately, he’s not immortal either (or maybe her standards are too low). A magnet for subcultures and weirdness, J.D. was that socially awkward girl with more fictional friends than real ones. As a child battling a hearing loss and Muckle-Wells Syndrome, J.D. found comfort in books where strong women always saved the day and got the guy. An obsession with Charmed, Sabrina the Teenage Witch and Buffy the Vampire Slayer led J.D. to believe that her mutated chromosome made her something more, not something less. Thus her stubborn flare to persevere was born. A lover of fine cuisine, coffee, and shoes, J.D. never understood why shoe stores don’t serve Starbucks and soufflé. She resides in Wisconsin were she writes urban fantasy—aka vampires for adults—and has political debates with her dogs. She loves to hear from fans and is active on http://Facebook.com/AuthorJDBrown
