Review: Conquered by LP Lovell

Publication Date: 9/27/2014
Series: She Who Dares #2
Rating: 5 Stars

Official Blurb:

Love is a war in which only the fearless may conquer. The loss of love is a test in survival.

Love. It’s such an understated word. It has the ability to grip you so hard you become completely consumed by it, and when it releases you, you find yourself on your knees. Lilly Parker has me on my knees and I cannot muster the will to stand.

Betrayal. It’s all the worse when it comes from those we love. The pain, that much more intense. The loss, that much more heart breaking. I took a chance on Theodore Ellis and I lost.

How hard is Theo willing to fight for the woman he loves? Can Lilly fight her demons, or will she push away the only man capable of facing them with her?

Conquered is the emotional, gritty second part of Lilly and Theo's story.

Just as a precautionary warning, if you have not read Besieged, then STOP RIGHT THERE! Conquered is not a standalone novel thus meaning you MUST read Besieged to have a very through understanding of this latest She Who Dares novel.

Theo, Theo, Theo, my dear infuriating dominating alpha male. I knew that one night stand of yours would come back and bite you in the ass. Theo realizes that his mistakes would jeopardize his budding relationship with Lilly. What I didn’t realize was how much Lilly was truly hiding about her past. Lilly thinks leaving Theo is for the best as the man who thawed her icy well guarded heart has broken it with his betrayal. Theo must fight to break down the walls Lilly has rebuilt around her.

This book honestly could not have been any better. It picks up right where Beseiged left us in Lilly and Theo’s story. Lilly’s dark past as resurfaced in multiple ways and Theo knows he’s the only one who can save her from her past and herself. While this book focuses on the redemption of Theo’s betrayal and resolving Lilly’s dark past, Conquered is more to me anyway about discovering how real love should be. You will do anything for that one person in your life that you love above all. Their love isn’t easy and possibly never will be easy. Their pasts will also play a part of their futures and I think Conquered begins to bring them to terms with that idea. Their love is full of passionate need for each other, but the need to protect and comfort. In true LP Lovell fashion, we end this story on a cliff hanger. This particular cliff hanger opens up such great growth possibilities with the next book for Lilly that I cannot even begin to imagine in what direction Lovell will go next!
