Review: In Still Darkness by Dianne Duvall

Publication Date: 7/29/2014
Series: Immortal Guardians #3.5
Rating: 4 Stars

Official Blurb:

It s not the first time Immortal Guardian Richart d Alencon has saved a human life from eternal damnation. Usually, he moves on, a nameless savior like a ghost in the night. But this time he can t seem to forget the woman who rewarded him with a sensuous kiss after he rescued her from a trio of vampires. While Richart knows that loving a human can only bring trouble, the taste of forbidden lust is too great to resist

Jenna never imagined she d end up a single mom working overtime to put her son through school. But she might have daydreamed once that a devastatingly gorgeous Frenchman would sweep her off her feet. Now that a package of tall, dark, and handsome seems intent on doing just that, doctors are telling her she may not have long to live. But Richart is telling her just the opposite. All she has to do is abandon her humanity

In Still Darkness tells us the tale of Richart and Jenna’s love story. No true love story is simply in the human world let alone the supernatural world. While only 84 pages, Duvall has managed to pack in suspense, thrill, mystery, and romance into a nice, neat little package. This story packs a definite emotional punch. You cry and laugh right along side Jenna during her relationship with Richart. I LOVED Richart’s character. He’s dark and brooding yet a sensitive, romantic. He’s the perfect blend of a romantic alpha male. Jenna is intriguing to me. She’s strong willed and determined to do what’s best for her son. They fit together beautifully as a couple and you can’t help but root for a HEA for them when shit hits the fan...

Every since my switch from Historical Romances to PNR/UF, I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about Dianne Duvall’s novels. I have always wanted to read the Immortal Guardian series, but like most bloggers, so many books, so little time to read. I jumped at the chance when I saw In Still Darkness on Netgalley’s newly added list. I thought to myself, if I wanted to get a taste of Duvall’s series, this novella was the perfect shot. I was sooooo right. It took 10 pages of this novella to suck me into the Immortal Guardians world. I honestly cannot wait to pick up the next book in this series as well as read the first 3 books to catch on Duvall’s amazing series
